Well, this is a toss up. My husband HATED this outfit, but I actually like it.
I was going to wear it the other day, but my husband vetoed it. He doesn’t do it often, so I listened.
But then I saw Everybody Everywhere this month is featuring colored tights and I decided- what the heck. I’ll see what you all think.
As you might know, I am a big fan of this skirt, but usually I wear it with neutrals- so this purple sweater is a bit of a stretch for me.
Adding to the stretch are the colored tights- this is not normally a look I wear, but it does help transition the skirt into the fall, and they match the sweater so well!
To keep the colors consistent, I am wearing my leopard heels (again) and a gold necklace. I realize now I should add a belt, but am not sure which one?! Would my leopard belt be too much?!
I need your help- please comment with your thoughts- if you guys hate this look, be honest. You won’t hurt my feelings.
If you love it- let me know so I can tell my husband he was wrong!
Either way, thanks for commenting- and just to be totally honest, since today my kids don’t have school, I’ll probably spend the entire day at home in my jammies- (sounds heavenly).

This oufit is fantastic. Colored tights are one of those fashion trends that no man likes (kind of like short hair.) Definitely rock this outfit just maybe choose a day when your going to be around lots of ladies and not so many men. The women will be jealous! I am! My favorite part is the mix of the colored tights with the leopard print shoes.
I see where you are headed, but something isn’t quite right. Is it the skirt? Too cargo for the shoes/tights/necklace? Or is it the tan with the purple tights? Something is off but I like the idea. send an updated photo of how you improve this outfit.
I think you’re right, it’s the cargo skirt- that is part of what my husband hated! Maybe a pencil skirt in camel would be more appropriate? Good thinking, thanks for the suggestion! I’ll definitely send an update when I find a better skirt!
Thanks so much for your feedback, I really appreciate it! 🙂 Tell all the KC gals hi for me!
Oh how cute! How about a gray skirt and black shoes? I love purple and gray together. Just a note of interest: someone wore turquoise tights to my wedding in 1992. She really stands out in all the photos, not in a good way. It’s a good reminder to wear trendy clothes in the right setting!
Excellent point! Sometimes things that seem so fabulous now- we will look back on and be so embarrassed by! That is why I usually stick to very classic looks! A gray skirt would be gorgeous with the purple- and I actually own a gray pencil skirt, so I might try that. Thanks for the comments!
Hope you enjoy your day!
Love your color combo. I am wearing the similar color today. Thanks for stopping by my blog. I love your blog and will follow you.
I love the sweater with the tights, but I don’t like the purple-tan-purple-tan combination. The skirt is tan and matches the tan of the flats too well. Maybe if the skirt was a different color, like gray, so the outfit isn’t so matchy-matchy?
Maybe you’re right- it’s a little too matchy matchy! Thanks for commenting!
Good for you for embracing the colored tights – they’re really fun and perfect to brighten up the gray, rainy weather today!! I think this would be a cute look with a cozy plum cable-knit sweater and some cute little booties, too!
I am OBSESSED with tights! They completely transform an outfit.
I love the tights & shoes. and even the skirt. If you change the top I think it will work great. Like a black sweater or gray. That will get rid of the matchy matchy part and the purple tights will be more of the center peice.
The day after I saw your post this my latest Parenting mag arrived, Bethany does a great job pulling it off with the purple tights too! Thought you’d want to see (if you haven’t already)……
