April 6th, Color Block

Looking back over my past outfits- I realize I have a bit of a color block.

For some reason, I am really drawn to neutrals- and seem a little afraid of color.

But, with spring upon us- and bright colors everywhere- I’ve decided I need to incorporate some color into my everyday look.

Today I’ve chosen this cute grey ruffle dress- and then added a bright yellow blazer over the top. To follow my rule of 3 (I must have 3 items in each outfit) I’ve added this cute colorful necklace.

To finish it off, I’ve chosen snakeskin wedges. I’m not 100% thrilled with this shoe choice, I love these shoes- but not sure it is warm enough  for them.

Truth be told, I’m a little stumped on what shoes to wear with this outfit! Suggestions?

It’s Friday, so be sure to check out Fashion Friday over at Girlymama!

This bright yellow blazer is perfect for spring!

Outfit update- when I went outside and almost froze my toes off, I decided to switch to boots. Not as ‘springy’ but at least my feet are warm!

Boots are a lot warmer!

  1. I have the same problem with color. I mostly wear black, and never wear pastel or bright colors unless it’s just a t-shirt and shorts. Recently I bought a multi-colored jewel-toned cardigan (at a thrift store). I get compliments every time I wear it. I think the blues and greens in the pattern make the move from black easier for me.

Thanks for your blog. I’m learning to layer!

  2. Great look ! and I’m not just saying that because I have a similar dress that I love dearly!…its one of those dresses I grab when I’m not sure what I am supposed to be wearing for something and the best part is its as comfy as wearing sweats !
