Looking Back

Hello Readers-Sorry it’s been a while since I wrote.

The holiday season was so busy for me (as I’m sure it was for you too!) that I just couldn’t find time to write.

Today I will simply be showing a bunch of outfits that I wore in Dec. Some I blogged about, others I just wore and took a picture of. Enjoy!

I hope you had a safe and happy New Year!

Nov 6th, Back in Black

Ever since the movie, Four Christmases with Reece Witherspoon I have been obsessed with wearing all black!

I tried to find a photo of her outfit from the movie- but couldn’t find one- so I’m sorry if you don’t know what I’m talking about!

Basically she is wearing a black pencil skirt, a black blouse and a black belt throughout most of the movie. It’s such a classic and stylish look- and I love it!

Today I am showing my version. I’ve chosen a stretchy black pencil skirt, a black cashmere v neck sweater, black tights and black wedge heels. In order to break up the all black- and add a splash of unexpected color- I added a pink skinny belt. I kept my jewelry very simple- a dainty little necklace and a silver cuff bracelet.

It’s a perfect outfit for me to wear to work today!

Be careful though… the outfit on the right is an example of all black gone wrong. Here I’m wearing my old black pencil skirt- which is too long- as you can see it goes below my knees! I’ve also chosen a short sleeve, crew neck black t shirt. Personally, A t shirt seems too casual for work, and the high crew neck is too matronly. Lastly, my loafer type heels are clunky looking- don’t you think?

I wanted to take a minute to give a special shout out to one of my regular readers- Susan. Her son is in the hospital recovering from a very intense surgery, and I want her to know that I’m thinking about her- and sending prayers and positive thoughts her way. If you have a minute today- please say a little prayer for Susan and her family. Thank you.

March 17th, 3 Ways to Wear a Grandpa Sweater

Love these cropped pants, polka dot top and flats.
The longer work out pants and flip flops don't quite work.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Sorry for the delayed post, we were up celebrating KU’s win last night (Rock Chalk) so we are moving slow this morning.

We’ve decided to show how versatile a grandpa sweater is by showing 3 totally different looks.

Erin has paired hers with cropped black pants, a cute polka dot blouse and a gorgeous necklace.

Kara has chosen cropped skinny jeans, a silk blouse tucked in and has added a belt, bracelet and two necklaces.

Her before is loose, faded baggy jeans, a plain white t shirt and birks just doesn’t have the same elegant look, does it?

I’ve chosen a black pencil skirt, a polka dot top and a pink cardigan. I’ve added a pink belt and have selected these cute espadrille wedges.

My before look of the plain white tank and baggy pants is unflattering and too messy.

I am so jealous of these gorgeous snakeskin wedge heels.
These baggy faded jeans are way too long for her.
I love the pink and black together. It's a good combo for spring.
These baggy pants are not flattering and the plain white tank is also making me look large in the tummy area.

Let me be totally honest, since it is snowing again here today- we will not be wearing any of these outfits- instead we will be bundled head to toe in the warmest things we can find. UGH! Spring- please come soon. We miss you!

Don’t forget to vote for Top Mommy Blogs- I need your vote each day (thank you!).

Now, go drink some green beer! And, if you’re feeling really festive, try a green blazer! Isn’t this cute?

This jacket is from Talbots, isn't it cute?

Nov 17th Photo Op

Calling all friends! Now is your chance to see yourself on this blog!

Next week I will be on vacation and I’ve decided rather than post while on vacation, I would love  to show some reader outfits. Please send me a before and after picture of you in your cute outfits- and you might just see yourself here!

Send to: everydaymomstyle@gmail.com.

Now, for my outfit today~

I have a charity/ work luncheon I am attending, so I need to look polished and professional.

I decided to go with this beautiful silk blouse and a black pencil skirt. Funny thing about black and blue- they were my high school colors, so whenever I see them I always feel a bit strange. To be honest, it’s been over 20 years… so I’m not sure why I still care! Plus, one of my favorite style blogs, What I Wore, just did a whole post on pairing these colors together, so I decided to go for it.

In keeping with my Rule of 3, I’ve added a skinny belt (even though the skirt does not have belt loops), and a small necklace. This gorgeous silk shirt really doesn’t need much else- it can stand on it’s own.

I took these pictures at night, and the flash has done something funky with the color. Too see this top as it actually looks, click here.

Some bracelets might have been nice?!

Oct 26th, Work it Wednesday

Today I’m participating in Jill from Good Life’s weekly link-up party where we show 1 item worn 3 ways. I’ve decided to go with a wardrobe staple, the black pencil skirt.

I love the pencil skirt for work because it’s so easy to wear and so much cuter than black pants.

I work in a very conservative field- so this look is perfect for me- but if you work in a more trendy field, make sure to keep your outfit current with a cute top,  jacket, sweater or accessories!

As seen on the left, I paired it with a animal print top and cute jacket. The animal print is unexpected, yet because it’s under the jacket- it isn’t too edgy.

On the right I decided to try another very conservative jacket- but paired with this bright orange tank makes it more modern.

Below, I’m showing an outfit I wore a few weeks ago- I paired my skirt with a sweater, scarf and boots. I think this one might be my favorite!

If you don’t own a pencil skirt- you could try any of these tops and jackets with dark jeans- it would look really cute as well!
