I have resisted the colored jeans fad for several months now, thinking I am too old to be wearing them.
But while out shopping with my mom yesterday, I stumbled across these at TJ Maxx and couldn’t resist. I’ve decided that since they were inexpensive I’ll give them a try, especially since it’s Valentines Day!
I originally thought I’d wear the outfit on the right- just simple cropped jeans and this cute striped shirt- but I think with the red jeans the outfit takes on a whole new look. What do you think?
I’ve added my new favorite shoes and a cute necklace to bring some unexpected color into the outfit.
Have a great Valentines- enjoy your day!

This is one of those Saturdays where it’s all about sports!
My son has 2 basketball games AND lacrosse practice, so my outfit needs to be warm, comfy and casual.
I’ve opted for my ‘boyfriend’ jeans and a striped pink t shirt layered over a white shirt. Then to follow my rule of 3- I’ve added a vest. And, dare I say it- my UGGS!
Yikes! I’ll admit they are super ugly- but they are also super comfy, and warm, and good for when I’m going to be on my feet all day.
It’s not super stylish, but it’s at least an improvement over the outfit on the right.
The only reason I even own a long sleeved collared shirt is because I used to play golf.
However, in ‘Everyday Life’, a collared shirt is usually worn by those who wear it as a work uniform. So, unless you have a job that requires you to wear a collared shirt, or you are playing golf- take my advice and try a plain t shirt instead.
This is a hard post because my goal in this style project is to wear outfits that are cute and inspired and I know no one will want to copy this outfit, but the truth is- I’m so exhausted by Halloween and all it’s festivities that I honestly don’t feel like get dressed today.
I considered putting on something cute, taking my picture and then changing into this. But, I’m committed to being real and honest in this blog. So, there you have it- this is me- in my casual, post halloween hangover outfit.
The whole look is based on the fact that my feet hurt and I want to wear my tennis shoes and I refuse to wear them with anything but work out clothes.
My pants are from Lulu, which I LOVE because of the way they fit, and my jacket is Adidas. I like the way it has a little built in gather to emphasize my waist. Because I like showing comparisons, the look on the right is basically the same outfit- workout pants and jacket (or in this case fleece), but these loose and baggy pants are awful and the black fleece also does nothing for my figure.
So, if you’re feeling exhausted from too much Halloween and you just want to be ultra comfy and casual today- think about how even in casual work out clothes you can be sort of cute… right?
This is not an original outfit- in fact it is a complete copy of an outfit I saw on some of the other blogs I follow. Sadly I can’t remember where, or I would give credit. If you know, please feel free to comment.
On the right I am showing how although this is a simple and easy outfit- there is still a chance to get it wrong, as seen here! The high waisted black pants aren’t doing much for my figure, the black boots are boring and the shirt tucked in is just plain bad…
On the left is the look I copied. I untucked the shirt, threw on a necklace and changed the baggy and wrinkled cargos for skinny black pants. Notice my brown Target boots. This seems to be a trend this fall- the brown and black combo. Who would have thought?
A small detail to point out- my leather braided bracelet. This was my husband’s in college, and I love the vintage look and feel to it! Very cool!
I guess I really like this look because it is so easy, simple, yet seems stylish. And just to be clear- the whole reason I started this blog was to get inspired and get ideas from more fashionable people… so don’t get mad at me for being a copycat, ok? And yes, you’re right- I should have ironed this shirt!
Finally the weekend! Today’s outfit is a typical weekend outfit- cargo khakis and a white shirt (again). This time I’ve paired it with a cute red vest to add warmth. For a mild fall day, a vest is a great substitute for a coat.
On the right I’m showing a before look- complete with tennis shoes. I know I’ve shown this before- but it needs repeating. Not only do tennis shoes make me look dated, but they are not flattering! Look how short and stubby my legs look! Weird!
On the left is my re-do. I’ve swapped the tennies for my cute wedge desert booties. I’ve added warmth and color by layering a denim shirt over the white shirt- and then also thrown a striped scarf on to top the whole look off.
