Oct 16th,Working Mom

Some of you may know that I work part time- and on days when I am meeting with clients I like to dress more professional.

To me, this is the hardest outfit to put together- and I’ll admit, I stood in my closet this morning and tried on lots of different looks.

At first I chose plain black pants and a white button down shirt- but personally, I think that looks a bit like a waiter’s uniform.

I then opted for a black shirt with a cream Chanel inspired blazer over it- this jacket is a classic piece- and in my opinion- a must have piece for every gal’s wardrobe!  It works great professionally, but is also cute paired with jeans- as seen here.

To add a little spunk, I chose my leopard flats. It’s a fun mix of patterns- and since I’ll be on my feet all day, flats are perfect.

It’s a pretty typical outfit for me.  I like sticking to neutral colors and classic looks- it makes me feel comfortable and that’s important!

I bought this blazer years ago- and it has been one of my all time favorite pieces! So classic!

Jan 31st, Chic Blog of the Week, Who Me?!

And thanks for all those votes for Top Mommy Blogs- you all are amazing! If you want to vote for me, it is so simple, just one click on the ‘vote for me’ button on the right. That’s it! Thanks! You can do it every day if you want- it will keep me in the running! (I’m getting greedy, sorry! :))

In celebration of today I have decided to dress in my alter ego- rocker chic! I bought this tweedy, Chanel inspired jacket thinking it was a very serious jacket and would be perfect for work. In the picture on the right you can see how I had it zipped up and paired with baggy black trousers. I didn’t look like a serious employee- I looked old fashioned!

On the left I have updated my look. By unzipping the jacket and pairing it with these sexy skinny pants and boots- then adding a oversize, flowy tank layered with lots of silver chains- I have made my outfit more current and stylish. Rock on!

From dowdy gal to rocker mom!

Oct 26th, Work it Wednesday

Today I’m participating in Jill from Good Life’s weekly link-up party where we show 1 item worn 3 ways. I’ve decided to go with a wardrobe staple, the black pencil skirt.

I love the pencil skirt for work because it’s so easy to wear and so much cuter than black pants.

I work in a very conservative field- so this look is perfect for me- but if you work in a more trendy field, make sure to keep your outfit current with a cute top,  jacket, sweater or accessories!

As seen on the left, I paired it with a animal print top and cute jacket. The animal print is unexpected, yet because it’s under the jacket- it isn’t too edgy.

On the right I decided to try another very conservative jacket- but paired with this bright orange tank makes it more modern.

Below, I’m showing an outfit I wore a few weeks ago- I paired my skirt with a sweater, scarf and boots. I think this one might be my favorite!

If you don’t own a pencil skirt- you could try any of these tops and jackets with dark jeans- it would look really cute as well!

Oct. 11th, Bootie Call

One way to look skinnier is to dress from head to toe in one color, then add a jacket.
Zipped up seems so stuffy!

Now that I’m doing this style experiment, I’m noticing that for fall/winter my shoes options are pathetic. Basically, I own black and brown boots- BORING! In order to expand my options, I made a little emergency trip to Marshalls last Friday and picked up a few new pairs. I wore one on Sat (the fur lined hiker boot seen here) and today I’m sporting another- introducing my new black booties!

I’ve paired them with skinny black pants (wardrobe staple), a black tank and a Chanel inspired jacket. I’ve accessorized with this cool necklace that I got at Forever 21. I like the way the beads play off the colors in the jacket.

On the right is my ‘before’ look. With the jacket zipped and the traditional trousers, I think I look a little dated. On my feet I have my trusty old boots- and to be honest, if I had to do a ton of walking, I’d probably say ‘screw fashion’ and wear these boots. They are really so much more comfortable.

But, in the name of style, I will thrust my feet into these silly booties and hope I don’t have to walk far!

Thanks for all the comments- please keep them coming!  I rely on advice and tips from you more fashionable people!

While I love these trousers, they aren't doing much to make this outfit look young and fresh.
The skinny pant makes this look more modern.
These were $30 at Marshalls. Love them or hate them?
