Dec 4th, 30 for 30- Day 4

I never used to be a fan of the denim on denim look- but it is really growing on me, especially when paired with this cute camel  sweater, worn open.

This is very similar to what I wore last weekend, are you sensing a trend here? I am definitely a creature of habit.

For an easy weekend look- try pairing boyfriend jeans, cute socks (scrunched down) booties, a denim shirt and then throw a cardigan over it.

To complete to Rule of 3, (and add interest) I added a belt and necklace.

By the way, you’re right- this time I am wearing my sweater backwards! Don’t tell!

A reader wrote that she just found this sweater in red on clearance at Land's End.

Nov 27th, Home Again

After a lovely week in Hawaii, I’m now happy to be home. Maybe ’cause I’m a Kansas girl, but to me, there’s no place like home!

Today’s outfit is a weekend, casual look. I’ve paired a denim shirt with a classic cable knit sweater and my boyfriend jeans. I then added my wedge boots to give the outfit an unexpected kick.

On the right you can see how this over-size sweater is not quite working for me. Similar to what I showed a few weeks ago- dressing in large clothes is not flattering, no matter what size you are- it will make you look enormous. Instead, opt for something more fitted- something that works with your figure- not against it!

The sweater on the left is a great example of why to always buy quality when it comes to a classic piece like this. This sweater was purchased by my grandfather in approx 1955 in Ireland. It was given to my mother- who then passed it down to me. It’s been sitting on the top shelf of my closet for years- and then I finally pulled it down, tried it on and wow!

I am so excited- it’s a beautiful piece that maybe I’ll pass down to my daughter one day… you think?

Love the leather covered buttons- such beautiful craftsmanship. They don't make them like this anymore!

Oct 8th, Tailgate Party, (Or Not!)

Very basic, but classic fall outfit.
There is something about this sweater that I really love- it's so simple, yet cute even alone.

Today’s outfit is what I consider to be the quintessential weekend look- casual jeans, comfy boots, warm and cozy sweater. This is what Fall is all about! Wish I was going to a college football game to tailgate, but instead, once again I’ll be on the sidelines at soccer! Oh well… Such is life. Luckily it’s not supposed to rain!

On the right I’m showing the sweater alone, and added my leopard flats for a bit of flair. I actually think this works, especially when you see the back of this sweater. But, since I like to add a little something to each look, on the right I have layered my denim shirt underneath, added a pearl necklace and changed my shoes for these cute booties I just picked up at Marshall’s.

Now I’m ready for running errands, sitting on the sidelines, or maybe even going out to lunch?!

Have a great day!

How cute is this back with the buttons?! And, no, it's not on backwards (as my son asked!)
I love the fur trim on these booties!

Sept 23rd, All Buttoned Up

Layered over a cute t shirt and tucked in, what a difference!
All buttoned up is a little frumpy!

I’m loving this weather, it’s fall, yet it’s still warm enough for skirts without tights! To be honest, I’m not a huge fan of tights. But, as I venture on this fashion journey- and as much as I love skirts- I’ll probably have to embrace the tights look as soon as it gets cold.

But, for now- this is what I’m wearing. I paired a cute mini with a denim shirt. On the right I am a little buttoned up. A little prim for me!

On the left I threw a cute embellished t shirt on, then layered the denim (unbuttoned), rolled the sleeves (amazing what a difference this makes), tucked it in and added my cute leopard belt from Target. I’m wearing sandals because it’s supposed to be really hot today, but cute ballet flats would work as well.

Here’s what I’ve learned- it’s not necessarily what you wear, it’s HOW you wear it. Don’t you agree?

I love how the leopard belt just adds a bit of sass!
The details of this cute t shirt are hard to see, so I realize this is a strange photo, but wanted you to see it up close!
