May 14, Camo Leggings

Good morning ladies! I am running late again today (I am more tired than normal and I’m having a hard time getting up. Anyone else experiencing this?) Anyhow, I’m working around the house and running errands this morning so I am extra casual in my camo leggings, cute graphic t shirt with a jacket tied around my waist.

In my before photo I have paired the leggings with a plain white sweater. To me, it just seems odd. They don’t go together. The sweater is preppy and sort of dressy, and the leggings are super casual. Why not try a graphic t shirt instead? Since the shirt is short and doesn’t cover my butt, I’ve tied this jacket around my waist. It gives me coverage, and adds a little warmth if I need it. The flip flops are also a little cuter than the old worn out running shoes.

No time for links this morning- plus my t shirt and jacket are super old. Leggings are from Nordstrom Rack, flip flops were from vacation in Hawaii a few years ago. I bought them in the gift shop! Have a great day!

March 17th, 3 Ways to Wear a Grandpa Sweater

Love these cropped pants, polka dot top and flats.

The longer work out pants and flip flops don't quite work.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Sorry for the delayed post, we were up celebrating KU’s win last night (Rock Chalk) so we are moving slow this morning.

We’ve decided to show how versatile a grandpa sweater is by showing 3 totally different looks.

Erin has paired hers with cropped black pants, a cute polka dot blouse and a gorgeous necklace.

Kara has chosen cropped skinny jeans, a silk blouse tucked in and has added a belt, bracelet and two necklaces.

Her before is loose, faded baggy jeans, a plain white t shirt and birks just doesn’t have the same elegant look, does it?

I’ve chosen a black pencil skirt, a polka dot top and a pink cardigan. I’ve added a pink belt and have selected these cute espadrille wedges.

My before look of the plain white tank and baggy pants is unflattering and too messy.

I am so jealous of these gorgeous snakeskin wedge heels.

These baggy faded jeans are way too long for her.

I love the pink and black together. It's a good combo for spring.

These baggy pants are not flattering and the plain white tank is also making me look large in the tummy area.

Let me be totally honest, since it is snowing again here today- we will not be wearing any of these outfits- instead we will be bundled head to toe in the warmest things we can find. UGH! Spring- please come soon. We miss you!

Don’t forget to vote for Top Mommy Blogs- I need your vote each day (thank you!).

Now, go drink some green beer! And, if you’re feeling really festive, try a green blazer! Isn’t this cute?

This jacket is from Talbots, isn't it cute?

Sept 4th, Day Dress Done Right

Cute day dress paired with flat sandals keeps it casual.

Too casual, and too short! Looks like a swim suit cover-up.

I’m taking my daughter to the American Girl store today, so I wanted to wear a dress for this special occasion. On the right I’m wearing a simple cotton day dress, but it is too short and it looks like a swim cover-up, especially since I paired it with flip flops. On the left I am wearing a better version of a day dress. The belted waist is more slimming and the longer hemline is more appropriate. In case I get cold, I added a cute cardigan and for visual interest I added a cool necklace. I also replaced the flip flops with my favorite sandals from Target. Now, off to spend $$$ on doll clothes, seriously?!

A cardigan with some details adds interest.

The cardigan will come in handy in the air conditioned store.

The straps add an unusual twist (pun intended!).

Dress: Club Monaco, Cardigan: H&M, Necklace: Anthropologie, Sandals: Target, Swim Cover-up: Old Navy

August 21st, Taking it to the Maxi!

Maxi Dress by local designer Lizzie Parker

Our party last night was a lot of fun, and I loved seeing what everyone was wearing. In my opinion, one of the cutest outfits was my friend Helen who wore a grey/ white tie dyed maxi dress. She looked effortlessly cool and chic, unfortunately I didn’t get any photos. Darn it!  Inspired by her look, today I am wearing a Maxi dress by a local designer, Lizzie Parker. The dress is made out of bamboo, so it’s extremely soft and comfortable. Paired with a necklace and simple flip flops- this is a great day or night outfit.

August 17th- Another Hot One

Flowy top, shorts and very high wedges

Wow! Two days in a row of heat… finally, it’s summer. It’s about time!

For my outfit today I chose a breezy, cool and super cute top from the Gap. I paired it with shorts and high heels- inspired by Jennifer Aniston. I remember seeing her wear similar shoes last year and I coveted them. I finally found a pair at DSW, so I snatched them up. To be honest though, wearing them I feel a little silly (and very tall). I wore them this morning when dropping my daughter off at cheer practice, and I noticed people were looking at me. Were they admiring my cute and trendy heels, or were they thinking I looked ridiculous? As soon as I got home I swapped them out for flip flops. I was much more comfortable- but probably not as cute. My question is- what looks like I’m trying too hard, and what looks fashionable. How do you tell the difference?

Shorts: Old Navy, Top: Gap, Shoes: DSW (Steve Madden)

time for a pedicure!

Here is without the wedges:

flip flops are so much more practical and comfortable, right?

Here is Jennifer wearing a similar top:

Here is Jennifer wearing the shoes, hers are Stuart Weitzman.
