Oct 18, 6 Ways to Wear a Graphic T Shirt

For my final day in my ‘theme week’ I have chosen to show a graphic t shirt worn 6 different ways! This was actually a lot of fun for me- because up until a year ago I would have NEVER worn a graphic t shirt anywhere but to bed! But I’ve been inspired by all the fashion posts on Instagram. I see women of all ages rocking a graphic t and looking super stylish! So here goes my take on how to wear a graphic t shirt!

  1. Distressed jeans/ Free People Blazer/ Black Booties
  2. Black distressed jeans/ Faux fur vest/ Paul Green flats
  3. White distressed jeans/ grey and white shrug sweater, grey booties
  4. Black pencil skirt/ denim jacket, leopard flats
  5. Dark skinny jeans, off white blazer, pointy toe heels
  6. Wide leg jeans, casual grey cardigan, loafers

Now I need to decide which I like best! I’d love to hear your thoughts!

By the way, this cute T shirt is from Target!!

August 18, #Keepingitreal

I almost didn’t post my outfit today- simply because it’s such a casual look that most of us moms already wear… but I decided that:

1. I want to keep it real here on Everyday Mom Style, and this is what I’m really wearing today as I get all my chores done around the house.

2. Plus, I think you can put a tiny bit of style into even the most casual look. So here goes…

Switching to cropped leggings instead of full length ones is more on trend. I also altered the t shirt by rolling the sleeves and tucking a bit into my leggings. This takes away the straight line across my hips and looks a little more stylish. Now, that being said- looking at the photo I realize I have now emphasized my curvy hips- which isn’t the most flattering look! So if I were to go run to the grocery store, I’d tie a denim jacket around my waist to hide the lumps. But, since I’m home I’ll just keep it as it is. No one judges me here! 🙂 Have a great Sunday!

May 14, Camo Leggings

Good morning ladies! I am running late again today (I am more tired than normal and I’m having a hard time getting up. Anyone else experiencing this?) Anyhow, I’m working around the house and running errands this morning so I am extra casual in my camo leggings, cute graphic t shirt with a jacket tied around my waist.

In my before photo I have paired the leggings with a plain white sweater. To me, it just seems odd. They don’t go together. The sweater is preppy and sort of dressy, and the leggings are super casual. Why not try a graphic t shirt instead? Since the shirt is short and doesn’t cover my butt, I’ve tied this jacket around my waist. It gives me coverage, and adds a little warmth if I need it. The flip flops are also a little cuter than the old worn out running shoes.

No time for links this morning- plus my t shirt and jacket are super old. Leggings are from Nordstrom Rack, flip flops were from vacation in Hawaii a few years ago. I bought them in the gift shop! Have a great day!

May 8th, Mean Girls

I’m not teaching today, so I am going to work around my house cleaning, organizing and taking care of everything I ignored last week when I was out of town.

Today’s look is my Mean Girls graphic t shirt paired with cut off denim shorts and my Converse All Stars. It’s a cute, casual look that’s perfect for the 80 degree weather we are supposed to have later today. On the right is my attempt to try something new. Normally I would never pair a graphic t shirt with a pencil skirt, but I thought it would be fun to try- and honestly, I love the way it looks! It’s perfect if you don’t want to wear shorts, and the casual tennis shoes really dress it down. You could also try sandals, see below.

Skirt- Nordstrom, Halogen, similar one here

T shirt- Target, similar one here

Shorts- Old Navy

Shoes- Converse

Now, for my rant about Mean Girls (I apologize in advance, but feel like I need to step on my soapbox for a minute).

While I loved the movie, and thought it was hilarious, there is nothing funny about Mean Girls in real life. I know that there is a lot of mean behavior that goes on in our kid’s lives- and as mothers, we need to do everything we can to

1. teach our kids kindness

2. teach our kids how to be resilient

I think as moms it is so important that we are honest with ourselves and aware of the examples we are setting for our kids. Even if we don’t realize it, our children are watching and mimicking everything we do. There are a few questions you can ask yourself to check in and make sure your behavior is setting a good example.

  1. Do you talk behind people’s backs in front of your kids? Do you gossip?
  2. Have you ever cut in line, told a white lie or cheated on something?
  3. Do you always include everyone in your social gatherings? Do you send birthday invitations to school and leave people out?
  4. Do you post pictures of events on social media where people have been excluded?
  5. Do you use the phrase ‘popular kids’? Or try to navigate or steer your child socially into the ‘right group’?
  6. Do you teach empathy and talk about how other people are feeling?
  7. Do you encourage your child to problem solve on their own and use ‘I messages’?
  8. Have you taught your child coping measures for when things don’t go their way?

As a teacher, I see mean girl behavior every day- and I hate to say this, but a lot of it is coming from home. Mean girls often have mean moms. We have the power to change that. Set a good example for your daughter and the world will be a better place.

Thanks for reading- and if you have any tips you want to share or pass along, please feel free to do so. I’d love to start a conversation about how to help our kids be the best version of themselves!

March 8, Good Vibes

It is very unusual for me to wear a graphic tee for my OOTD, but after yesterday- I need some good vibes and good karma! More about that later…

There really isn’t anything wrong with the before look- but I like the after look better. I think the darker jacket instead of the grey cardigan adds a nice contrast- same with the darker jeans. As for my shoes- I wanted to keep with the ultra casual vibe- so I opted for these Chuck Taylors. They don’t offer a ton of arch support, but they are perfect for an easy, casual look. I do think they make my feet look huge though! Maybe I’ll go back to the slip ons?!

Notice how I knotted the tank to give it a little shape at the waistline.

This tank is so old I can’t remember where it’s from. Maybe Old Navy or Target?!
This cute jacket is from Evereve, it has a ton of stretch in it, making it super comfy!

Now- if you’re still reading I will tell you about my day. I had a shit day yesterday, literally. The toilet in my powder room exploded- filthy water was gushing out all over the floor. My son and I grabbed as many towels as we could to mop it all up- but the water just kept coming. It was like something out of a horror movie. I finally had the sense to turn the main water off (do you know how to do that in your house? If not, learn quick!). Needless to say, I called a plumber and spent the rest of my day waiting around for him to come. Fun times. And now I have to go buy all new towels… not to mention pay a HUGE plumbing bill.

Hope you’re day is better than mine. Happy Friday!

Jan 15th, Weekend Wear

Weekend casual- day 2. I’m rushing out the door for more basketball games, so I don’t have time to post much. (I should have gotten up earlier- sorry!)

I’ve opted for black skinny pants, black booties and a funky t shirt under a cableknit cardigan.

I NEVER wear t shirts like this, so this is a bit of a stretch, but my hubby liked it- and in the end, that’s all that matters, right?!

Hope you have a great day!

I actually bought this t shirt for my son, but I stole it from him!
