Dec 6th, 30 for 30-Day 6

I’m working from home in order to take care of my new puppy! Yes, you heard me right! I am now a proud dog owner. For those of you who know me personally, I’m sure you never thought this day would come (I sure didn’t). But then again, you never know when you’ll fall in love!

The thing with working from home is that unless I get dressed in ‘work clothes’ I don’t feel like I’m working. So, although no one will probably see me (well, I might run to Safeway), I’ll still dress somewhat professionally just to set my mind in work mode!

I’ve paired my jeans with this cute chambray shirt and then to make it more professional, I’ve layered my cream blazer. Since this jacket has 3/4 sleeves, and the shirt underneath has full sleeves- I decided to roll the shirt sleeves into the blazer sleeves- so they don’t hang out below.

I also added a belt (leopard this time!) and a necklace and then threw on my leopard heels to really add some personality. Although truth be told- since I’m at home I’ll probably be wearing slippers- (or maybe even these UGGS- but I promise I will not go out in public wearing them. They look awful! )

I love the soft cotton fabric of this jacket- it makes it very comfy and easy to wear.

For anyone who is interested- here is my puppy, Sadie!

Cutest dog in the world!

Nov 10th, Backwards?

Due to the buttons down the back, the last time I wore this sweater I had a few people comment (probably jokingly) “I think you’re wearing your sweater backwards”.

I can assure you, it is not on backwards! I swear!

I fell in love with this sweater the moment I saw it- I love the camel color, the 3/4 sleeves, the cropped cut and the way it just looks like Fall. For some odd reason, it reminds me of Love Story- although Ali McGraw probably wore nothing like it.

Anyhow- today I am pairing this sweater with my off white pants. I decided to keep this look very simple- very understated.

By keeping each piece of this outfit in the same color family, it looks classy and expensive (which it isn’t!).

To add a bit of my personality, I’ve chosen my leopard heels, an animal print bracelet and this cute necklace from Forever 21.

For a totally unexpected twist, I'm using my black purse again.

Nov 9th, What I Wore Wednesday

Well, it’s Wednesday again, which means I’m linking with The Pleated Poppy for What I Wore Wednesday, which is one of my favorite ‘go to’ sites for great ideas.

Even though on Saturday I showed this ‘before’ look on the right- in case you missed it, I’m showing it again. There is nothing wrong with this casual look, but  I want to show how simple it is to dress up jeans and a jacket.

For running errands, volunteering at school or for lunch with friends- skinny jeans and a polished blazer with cute shoes are a great and EASY look!

I’ve got on my dark skinny jeans (I’ve noticed I wear these a lot, maybe time to invest in a new pair?), a cream tank, black blazer and Burberry inspired scarf.

My dilemma is what shoes to wear?

I’m showing 3 different looks- please comment and let me know your favorite!

I'm always a fan of leopard flats!
To dress up the look, these high heeled loafers are nice.
I love the square toe on these patent leather flats. They remind me of ballet shoes!

Oct 19th, Classic and Simple

To avoid looking like a waiter- add jewelry! The leopard belt helps too...

It’s Wednesday- and today I am linking up with the Pleated Poppy for What I Wore-

I’ve got another PTA meeting today (seriously!) and so decided to go with a classic look- a simple white button down blouse and jeans.

The problem with a white button down is it is very easy to look like a waitress- so try not to pair it with black trousers and make sure to add a few personal touches- or someone might try to place their order!

To achieve a stylish but easy outfit- I’ve simply layered a white button down shirt (be sure to buy one that is fitted) over a tank, paired with dark jeans (worn here),  leopard heels and a leopard belt. And, to complete the look I added a necklace that matches the leopard and brings a tiny bit of color to the look.

All in all, this is an easy outfit, but still looks like I put some effort into my look!

Love the colors in this necklace-

Oct 16th, White After Labor Day?

Off white pants are totally appropriate after Labor Day!
While I love black and white together, this seems a little dull!

Good morning- happy Sunday! My hubby and I had a date last night, so I am actually going to post what I wore out with him- rather than my Sunday outfit. I’m playing tennis this morning, and then spending the rest of my day cleaning my house- so you probably don’t want to see that outfit!

A lot of people wonder about the whole white after Labor Day thing- and according to Tim Gunn, it’s ok! And in my book- he is the expert! I think the secret is to not wear stark white, these pants are a little creamy white (hard to tell in the photos). The other secret is to wear closed toe shoes- so you don’t look like you’re trying to still be in summer mode!

On the right I’ve paired my trousers with a black t shirt and black heels. I love black and white together, but this is just too boring.

To spice things up a bit, I’ve added my cropped trench coat, added a necklace and changed my shoes for these cute leopard heels. Ready to go hit the town!

Have a great day!

The cropped trench is a great alternative for a cardigan or blazer.
