Today for our tour I’m wearing my olive green jacket with a cute black patterned top (they are actually little stars, but they look like polka dots) and my faded Joe’s jeans. It’s a simple casual look that’s comfy and perfect for walking around a college campus.
As you can see in my before photo I have on the same top, but it’s untucked & paired it with a cargo style jacket, boyfriend jeans and clunky tennis shoes. The untucked shirt and boxy jacket paired with these baggy jeans makes for an overall messy look. By just making some small changes- I have really improved my outfit.
I am a big fan of jackets. I own a LOT of them. I think they are the perfect item to add to any outfit to keep warm.
First off, I love the jacket on the left. It’s an olive green field/ military style jacket. Paired with the right top and jeans, it can be a cute outfit, like when I wore it here. However, today, this look is not doing much for me.
So I replaced the field jacket with this cute olive bomber (similar) This jacket is made out of Tencel, which if you aren’t familiar with it- you should be. It is made of wood pulp (earth friendly) and is one of the softest fabrics out there. So comfortable to wear! If you are thinking about buying a jacket to add to your wardrobe- consider getting a green bomber. The color is a great neutral that can be worn with everything- and it is a stylish alternative to a cardigan.
I then replaced the high neck white tee shirt with this cute scoop neck tank. Working with the casual vibe, I switched out the black jeans for my ripped/ ankle length pair and then slipped on my black and grey tennis shoes instead of the heavy black boots. To complete the outfit, I threw on this fun necklace that adds a little interest.
I’ve blogged about this dress before- here, here and here. And today it’s back!
I’m sorry for repeating myself, but this honestly is one of my favorite dresses I’ve even worn… and I know I’ve said this before, but I think it’s because it has long sleeves! They are so warm!
However, this dress isn’t enough on it’s own.. it need a little something.
Today I’ve paired it with my black leggings and my cargo jacket. I added a skinny belt and a necklace- and then for my feet I have on my new black booties!
I get letters from readers- all the time- about how their feet are cold, or how my ballet flats aren’t practical in their climate- or they can’t do heels- and I get it! In my rainy climate they aren’t ideal either. So, I’ve been looking for an alternative- and I think I have found a winner!
Introducing the black cowboy mini… (not sure if that’s really what you call it) but these little cuties are perfect! The flat heel is ideal for being on your feet all day, I can wear them with socks (no cold toes here), and the black goes with everything. The best part- I got them at DSW for less that $65. Yep, it’s true. You can thank me later…
Linking with The Pleated Poppy… check it out for lots of inspiration!
I know I used this same before picture last weekend– but it is so bad- and yet I see women dressed like this all the time- that I had to show it again.
Since I pointed out all the flaws last week- I won’t waste your time today.
Let’s just say that there isn’t anything redeeming about this look on the right (well, except for the color combo of orange and blue- which is one of my favorites!).
For a similar, yet a little more stylish look- try skinny jeans, ballet flats and a cute tissue t shirt from the gap.
Because it’s still chilly here in the Northwest, I’ve added this cute military style jacket. I love this piece- you can throw it on for casual wear- or layer it over a dress- it’s that versatile! Best part- I bought it at Marshalls!
What are your plans for today? I have NONE! Weird!! I’m not sure what to do with myself!
I've got on lots of layers today- a tank, a t shirt and then this jacket.
