Jan 23, Black and White

Black and white is such a classic and easy go to for any outfit.

In the photos above you can see I have chosen black jeans, a black and white blouse and black boots. Here’s the difference: in the after picture I chose a little more fitted blouse- and I did the famous half tuck, defining my waist. I added a belt, rolled up my sleeves and added a necklace.

One thing I love about this blouse is it has really cute detail along the shoulders (see the picture below, it’s too hard to tell above). I also rolled up the hem of my jeans revealing my ankles- and switched out my boots for a lower profile bootie. This really changes the look. To be honest, I don’t hate the before picture- I actually think this blouse is cute,  but I wanted to give you a contrast so you can see the difference. Plus, plaid is really on trend right now!

*I apologize for the grainy photo above, for some reason the bigger the photo, the more grainy it gets. I have no idea how to correct that (or how to resize the photo). I am definitely in need of advice, if you have a suggestion- please send it my way! Thank you! 🙂

Nov 2nd, Denim and Black

I like this casual- perfect for running errands or attending weekend sporting events- type outfit.

I’m wearing my black skinny pants (these are not leggings- these are actually pants) worn layered over a black tank, then a denim shirt, then a black puffy vest.

It’s warm, comfy, and sort of stylish!

On the right, I’m showing a before picture of how not to wear denim! While I love the denim on denim look- this is too much!

This is such an easy outfit!

March 8th, Layers

I’ve finally figured out why I’ve been having so much trouble getting dressed lately (actually, a reader made a comment that clued me in.)

I blame it on the weather.

We keep getting little spring teasers (the sun is shining, cherry trees are blooming, not to mention every store in the mall has their entire spring lines on display), yet spend 5 minutes outside and you’ll know it’s still winter in the Northwest. ARGH!

What to do?

Layer!

They add so much warmth and interest to your outfit, don’t you think?

On the right the plain checked shirt with the boring blue jeans is not cute, especially paired with these tennis shoes!

On the left, I’ve replaced the faded jeans with my dark skinny jeans- traded the tennis shoes for the brown boots, unbuttoned my shirt a few buttons and then added this cute cardigan (that I actually have on backwards).

I think it’s a cute, easy outfit for volunteering at school today!

I’m linking with one of my favorite sites today- Melissa from All Things Chic. Be sure to check out the cute red dresses she is showing today. I think I need one…

By adding the layers (tank underneath and cardigan over) I've made a much cuter and warmer outfit!
