One of my worries when getting dressed is that I don’t look like a frumpy mom! It’s so easy for me to fall into a pattern of wearing jeans, a top and a cardigan. It’s casual, it’s comfy and it works… but can I elevate this look?
While I don’t HATE the before picture, in fact I kind of like it, I think the after look has a little more style to it. Something about the edgy jacket and the peep toe shoes take this regular mom outfit up a notch.
However, since I am running errands all day- I will compromise. I’ll wear the jacket, but switch to tennis shoes. My poor old feet can only stand heels for so long. #keepingitreal
This outfit is a bit of a stretch for me (and a bit of a risk as well), but I love the way a cool graphic t shirt and jeans look on everyone else, so I thought I’d give it a try.
However, it’s a bit chilly, so I wanted a jacket. I think the blazer on the left is too formal, and didn’t feel like ‘me’, so I decided to try this more casual jacket with a Moto collar. I also thought the booties were too wintery, so the4se t strap sandals add some edge to the look and keep it summery. My shirt says ‘build bridges, not walls’ in case you wondered!
You may have noticed that I’ve stuck to a pretty neutral color palette for my trip. When traveling, I always like to pack similar colors so that I can mix and match outfits and everything goes together.
Today I’m wearing grey and black. I love this grey t shirt- it has a cool shape, I love the neckline, and it’s cute with my black bralette peeking out. For warmth, I’ll throw on a black short jacket that has a little style- a big improvement over the black North Face on the left.
I celebrated my birthday last week and my sweet husband has done it again.
Each year he buys me clothes. Now, some women would cringe at this thought- but my hubby happens to have excellent taste!
This year he surprised me with this gorgeous leather jacket from Nordstroms. Here’s how they describe it: “it has quilted shoulders extending down to the elbow seams of a streamlined, motorsports-inspired jacket fashioned from lustrous leather.”
I paired it with my skinny jeans, a drapey top (also from Nordstrom’s) and my black boots. It’s a stylish alternative to the faded jeans and North Face jacket outfit on the right, don’t you think?
