Sept 15, Black Joggers

When I think of wearing joggers, I immediately think of a very casual outfit, but today I am showing a way to actually dress your joggers up a bit- and perhaps wear them to work, church, or even out to dinner.

I started with this gorgeous wine colored polyester blouse from Nordstrom (similar). Growing up in the 70’s, when I hear ‘polyester’ I think of the Brady Bunch- but honestly, it’s come a long way since then. It’s a great (and more affordable) alternative to silk, plus it washes easily. Tip of the day, don’t be afraid of polyester!

Here is how I improved the before look. I tucked in the blouse, added a cool necklace, rolled the hem of my joggers and swapped out the boots for these cute peep toe booties. Now have a cute outfit that is super comfy while also being stylish.

*full disclosure I’m not actually wearing this today, but I totally would! Instead I’m heading to yoga 🙂

May 5, Black and White Stripes

We are headed to a brunch today to celebrate the end of the year for my son, who is graduating high school. Woot hoot! I’ve chosen a cute black and white striped dress. Alone, it’s a little plain- so I added this cute statement necklace from Stella and Dot (old) and a black blazer with the sleeves pushed up. Peep toe shoes complete the look.

Sorry I didn’t get to post yesterday! I was still in Vegas at the National Charity League conference and didn’t have time for photos. I got home late last night and will be back to my regular posting this week with links and better write ups! Enjoy your Sunday.

Dress is from Madewell (old)

May 2, Rose Gold

I mentioned the other day how Rose Gold is one of the trending colors this season. Today I’m wearing a rose gold t shirt paired with a sandstone faux suede jacket.

In the before photo I paired this t shirt with blue jeans and Birkenstocks. But there just isn’t anything interesting or unique about this look. So, to change it up, I swapped out the blue jeans for off white jeans- and added this incredibly soft draped front faux suede jacket. The jacket adds some style and also keeps me warm! The open toed shoes complete the look and tie in the color of the jacket.

Jacket- TJ Maxx, old, but here is a similar one

March 19, Spring Dress

Todays outfit is a spring dress, although to be honest I’m not actually wearing this today (I have a tennis match, so I’ll be in my tennis clothes). But, I wanted to show you a cute dress that would be perfect for church, brunch with friends, or a baby or wedding shower… really any occasion!

First off, I love dresses because they are so easy! No need to worry about matching your top and bottom- it’s done for you! Second, when wearing a dress- you just look nice! It looks like you put effort into your outfit. Third, in the spring and summer, dresses are a perfect alternative to wearing shorts.

Now let’s talk about these two dresses. The one on the left is just a little too big. Look closely at my tummy area- there is extra fabric bunching out (hard to see in the photo, trust me!). This dress has a draw string waist- which means there is extra fabric that gathers here. This creates un-needed bulk in an area where you don’t want to add bulk. The dress on the right fits a lot better. See how it nips in at the waist- as well as has a deeper V neckline with the pin tuck detailing, which is more flattering.

I also like these neutral peep toe shoes a lot better than the black ballet flats. Adding a heel (even a low heel) adds a little style to a dress. That being said- I’m a huge fan of flats- so if you are more comfortable wearing flats- go for it. Be you! Be comfortable!

If it’s still chilly where you live, throw on a cute draped faux suede jacket for instant warmth. And no comments please on my pale legs!

Dress- Banana Republic
