April 7th, Weekend Casual

My friend Stacey and I were talking the other day and she mentioned how hard it must be to dress cute everyday.

And she’s right, not only is it hard, but it’s unrealistic.

Some days I’m planning on working in the garage, or the yard, or whatever- and I don’t get dressed up.

Today is one of those days.

I’m planning on working around the house most of the day- and I want to be extremely comfortable- so I’ve opted for work out pants, a top and a jacket.

On the right you can see what the old me might have worn. This enormous over size sweatshirt does nothing for my figure- and the jeans and tennis shoes- surely we don’t have to go there again!

On the left I’m wearing my Lululemon grey yoga pants, a white tank, then a pink shirt over the tank and finally- a zip up sweatshirt to keep me warm. (Did I mention it’s 45 degrees here? ARGH!)

The fitted yoga pants and fitted sweatshirt are a much more pulled together look. The soft pink shirt adds some color to the outfit.

I know it’s not very fashionable, and I know no one will be inspired by this casual look- but I wanted to show what I really am wearing today!

Have a great day!

Jan 29th, You Be The Judge

Before I talk about this outfit, I have some exciting news! My blog has been chosen to be on Top Mommy Blogs! Please take a minute to click the link where it says ‘like my blog?’ (on the right) to vote for my blog! Thank You!!!

This is one of those outfits that I think is really cute, but my husband hates it. Not sure what exactly about it that he hates- he just does.

So, I’ve decided to let you all decide. Is this cute? Is it awful? What could I do to make it cuter (if anything)?, or is it time for the Goodwill?

Originally I had it on as you see on the right, but I decided the white t shirt underneath takes away from the cute neckline of this smock, so I changed it out for a 3/4 sleeve, v neck shirt, and added a necklace.

My favorite part of the entire outfit are these new shoes I just picked up at Nordstrom. As you may know- I hate tennis shoes (unless I’m working out), but love comfort. These cute little Puma’s are the perfect solution. They feel like tennis shoes, but look like ballet flats!

Where have they been all my life?! Prepare to see these babies a lot!

What do you say, is this a keeper?

Jan 19th, Here We Go Again

My title refers not only to the snow- which is still coming down (as sleet), nor to the fact the kids are off school AGAIN today, but to my outfit- which seems to be a new favorite style of mine (as seen here and here).

Once again, I’ve paired a checked shirt under a sweater. How can I go wrong?

Well, depending on how you do it- you could go really wrong!

If anything, PLEASE do not wear it like I did on the right (which I have shown before- and did not actually wear, this was simply for an example of what not to wear).

On the left I’ve switched out the faded mom jeans for my dark skinnys. I replaced my awful tennis shoes with these cute boots. I’ve also taken off this horrid v neck cardigan and put on this cute purple sweater. As always, a necklace completes the look.

Oh my gosh, my feet look enormous! Wow! Bad angle!

Dec 21st, 30 for 30 Day 21

I call this my Martha Stewart outfit- partly because I plan on spending the day working around the house, cooking, cleaning, wrapping presents… you know the drill!

Another reason I call this Martha Stewart is because before I started this style experiment I remember watching her show  and noticing she would wear a blouse while cooking. I remember thinking, weird! It looks so uncomfortable and stiff- and personally, I’d rather wear sweats!

However, all that has changed with this blog. Even working around the house, I am forcing myself to dress up a bit-  not that this is dressy, but at least I’ve put a little effort into my look because you never know who will ring your doorbell, right?!

Today I’m participating in Work it Wednesday only to the degree that I’m showing 3 different shoes with this very simple outfit. I’ve got on casual tennis shoes, my desert booties and leopard flats. Which are your favorite?

These casual slip on tennis shoes are a great alternative to regular tennis shoes!
I'm always a fan of the leopard flat. It brings an unexpected flair to my outfit!

I’m also linking up with The Pleated Poppy– check it out for hundreds of great style ideas!

Nov 1st, True Confessions

This is a hard post because my goal in this style project is to wear outfits that are cute and inspired and I know no one will want to copy this outfit, but the truth is- I’m so exhausted by Halloween and all it’s festivities that I honestly don’t feel like get dressed today.

I considered putting on something cute, taking my picture and then changing into this. But, I’m committed to being real and honest in this blog.  So, there you have it- this is me- in my casual, post halloween hangover outfit.

The whole look is based on the fact that my feet hurt and I want to wear my tennis shoes and I refuse to wear them with anything but work out clothes.

My pants are from Lulu, which I LOVE because of the way they fit, and my jacket is Adidas. I like the way it has a little built in gather to emphasize my waist. Because I like showing comparisons, the look on the right is basically the same outfit- workout pants and jacket (or in this case fleece), but these loose and baggy pants are awful and the black fleece also does nothing for my figure.

So, if you’re feeling exhausted from too much Halloween and you just want to be ultra comfy and casual today- think about how even in casual work out clothes you can be sort of cute… right?

Wear a thong or go without undies when wearing tight pants like these. No one wants to see granny panty outline!
