Well, its the end of the month, so that means it’s time for a summary of my outfits of the month. Which was your favorite?
Tag: what to wear
Jan 16th, Puffy Vest
I’m working from home again today (actually working from my bed- I’m still having my back issues) so I’m dressed in ultra casual, ultra comfy clothes.
I’ve opted for my black leggings, a grey sweater and this cute patterned puffy vest (although truth be told, while I’m in my bed I don’t have the vest or boots on! :))
It’s a much cuter outfit than the plain one* on the right, don’t you think?

* this is an old picture taken last summer- hence the gorgeous flowers behind me. If I took it today, you would see frost! 🙂
Jan 15th, Needing Some Color
As I look back over my outfits these past few weeks, I noticed that I haven’t been wearing much color (which shouldn’t be a surprise since I feel most comfortable in neutrals). But today I decided I needed a little burst of color~ something about the grey skies and lack of sunshine I guess!
That being said- here is today’s look. I’ve decided to wear jeans and a bright orange top. I love this top- it’s a great color and super comfy. For my first look I simply paired it with jeans, added my orange bracelet and brown boots- easy does it.
Then I decided that I should maybe add another layer- especially for working moms- so I tucked the shirt in and added a blue blazer. Instead of the boots, I chose ballet flats (and yes, my feet will probably freeze- this look is for you lucky moms who live in warmer climates). I also chose my leopard belt as a fun little surprise.
Now let’s take a moment to discuss my ‘before’ look. I chose an old one for you today (so I apologize if you’ve seen it before) but it’s perfect to compare with today’s look.
This is another example of how to wear a bright shirt- yet this outfit isn’t working for several reasons. The tight orange shirt with the high collar and strange cuffs looks awful (especially tucked in), and the mid calf cropped jeans are really unflattering for many reasons. The high waist being one of them. Lastly, the tennis shoes- please, please don’t wear tennis shoes with jeans. It’s not cute. We’ll talk more about that another day…

Looking Back
Hello Readers-Sorry it’s been a while since I wrote.
The holiday season was so busy for me (as I’m sure it was for you too!) that I just couldn’t find time to write.
Today I will simply be showing a bunch of outfits that I wore in Dec. Some I blogged about, others I just wore and took a picture of. Enjoy!
I hope you had a safe and happy New Year!
May 24th, Reader’s Request- Lab Wear
I’ve decided to start a new thing on Thursdays- where I ask you all to weigh in on a reader’s request. Since I realize that I am by no means an expert- I figure this is a great way to get other people’s opinions on style questions.
So- here we go!
Today’s question comes from Jenny. She has a friend who will be starting dental school in the fall and is concerned with what to wear. She needs to go straight from class into the lab- where she needs to look professional.
It’s been a LONG time since I was in school (could it really have been 20 years ago? God, I’m old!) and I have never been in a lab- so I’m hoping that some of you lovely readers can chime in.
My suggestion is to wear nice, cropped dress pants paired with a cute top, a cardigan and some comfortable shoes. However, you don’t want to look like Barbie, so be sure to get a coat that fits! LOL!

Ok readers, now it’s your turn! Please help Jenny and comment on what you would suggest wearing to class and then to the lab!
On me: Pants: Nordstrom (Vince Camuto), Tank: French Connection, Cardigan: J Crew, Shoes: DSW, Necklace: Stella and Dot
April 30th, Month in Review
Well, it’s the end of another month! And here is what I wore. Let me know which was your favorite- or what inspired you- or what I should get rid of!

April 14th- Weekend Casual Gone Wrong
Today I’m combining 2 of my favorite color combos- blue and orange.
I’m wearing cropped blue jeans with an orange top. but the outfit on the right isn’t working.
There is a lot wrong with this look, but let’s start with the tight orange shirt.
The high neckline isn’t flattering, having the shirt tucked in makes it even worse, the 3 inch cuffs on the sleeves are strange…
As for the jeans- where do I begin?
First off, the length is unflattering- compare the way my legs look on the right to the way they look on the left. Because the crop on the right ends mid calf- my legs look short.
The wide cut of the leg is also not as flattering, look at my saddlebags! The skinner (straight leg) cut of the jeans on the left are more slimming.
Next is the high waistband- this makes my middle area look bigger than it really is (especially since the top is tucked in- as previously mentioned).
A lower waist is more current and flattering- keep in mind though- I’m not talking so low my underwear are hanging out!
Last is the tennis shoes. I’ve talked about this so many times- so forgive me for repeating myself.
Please- DO NOT wear tennis shoes with jeans. Honestly, it doesn’t look good.
Yes, I know tennis shoes are really comfy. My feet ache all the time (that’s why I wear flats so much), but tennis shoes are not the answer.
A great alternative is Puma’s which are as comfy as tennis shoes- but so much cuter.

April 11th, 6 Ways to Wear a Scarf
This outfit is so simple it’s almost silly that I’m showing it today- but it is also one of my favorites and one of my standbys for days when I can’t think of anything else to wear.
I call it my ‘Parisian Chic’ look!
I am simply wearing my dark skinny jeans with a grey and white striped shirt. To add some pizzaz, I decided to complete the look with a scarf. I tried several different ways of wearing the scarf- and thought you all might enjoy seeing some of my options!
Below is my favorite:

March 31st, Month in Review
Good morning! It’s the end of the month, so here is a review of all my outfits for the month. Which one was your favorite? Which one was a bust?!
Please comment! I love hearing from readers- it truly makes me day! (even if you hate my outfit!)
March 15th, Sister’s Style
My sisters and I all have our unique style- it’s very similar- but there are a few distinct differences.
My older sister, Erin, has a larger top than bottom, so her goal is to hide her top and flaunt her thin legs.
Her favorite look is skinny bottoms, large oversize tops or coats and flats.
Today she is wearing jeans, a sweater with a cute cable collar and then this wonderful coat.
The pattern is eye catching, the length of the coat is perfect to hide her butt and her legs look nice and thin. She’s finished her look with her favorite boots from Frye.
Kara is what I would call a preppy/ traditionalist. Her look is very simple and very classic. Most of her wardrobe is from J Crew.
You’ll never catch her looking like she’s trying too hard. Her look is current, but not uber trendy and definitely not outside her comfort zone.
Today she is wearing skinny jeans. She’s paired them with this blue and grey striped top with these cool dolman sleeves. It’s an easy outfit, which translates to effortless style.
Her shoes take the whole look up a notch, they are grey suede wedge heels. Gorgeous!
My style is similar to Kara’s, but I mix brands up a bit more. I like combining pieces from Target, Khol’s, J Crew and Nordstrom to create a more affordable outfit. I also might be a bit more of a risk taker- just a little edgier by adding things like my faux fur vest, or maybe a huge necklace or leopard flats… something that is unexpected.
Truth be told, both of my sisters are huge fashion influences on me. They always look amazing and they are one of the reasons I even started this blog. I would go visit them and always feel like my style was so lame compared. They inspired me to re-think my closet and put more effort into my look. Thanks guys! I love you!
So, which sister is most like you? Erin, Kara or me?

- I love the bright color- makes me think of spring… if only!
