Nov 9th, Inspired by Pinterest (Again!)

I had so much fun copying a look (seen here) from Pinterest a few weeks ago- that I decided to try it again today.

I bought this sequin tunic a few years ago for a trip to Vegas, and I haven’t worn it since (luckily I found it at Marshalls, so it was not expensive).

Still- I’d like to wear it again… but was never sure how?

Part of my concern was that I thought sequins were too fancy for day wear… but according to Pinterest- not so!

They claim you can wear sequins anytime… so here I am trying it under a yellow blazer.

In the Pinterest picture she has paired hers with torn boyfriend jeans- since I’m working today, I have chosen my dark skinny jeans instead. Her blazer looks like it might be velvet, mine is plain old cotton… and while she is barefoot, I’ve chosen my Tory Burch snakeskin flats.

I really like this outfit- because it is something I would have NEVER put together on my own- so thank you Pinterest for inspiring me!

Below I am showing my sequin tunic all alone- looking at the photo you can tell it’s really too big for me. I tried to tuck it in in the pictures above, but a shorter length top would definitely work better.

And, truth be told- all alone it doesn’t look very flattering- again, probably because it’s too big! Note to self- don’t buy clothes that don’t fit (I know this seems obvious, but sometimes I am so excited to find a great deal that I think I can make it work. Not so!)

I look pregnant! I’m not, I swear!
I figured this top doesn’t need any necklace- I let the sequins get all the attention!

May 15th, Another Day, Another Dress

I had so much fun wearing a dress yesterday (and received lots of compliments :)) that I decided to wear another one today,  especially since I have to go to work! This dress is so much fun to wear.  It’s summery, cute and makes me feel like a 1950’s housewife!

On the right I have paired it with a blue cardigan. The dark blue seems so wintery with this light dress, and I don’t like it buttoned up- it seems too wintery.

The yellow blazer is so much brighter- and summery. Since I’m wearing this for work- the blazer adds a little more professionalism to the look. You might notice I decided to keep my neckline bare- thinking there is enough going on with the dress. Lastly, I’m wearing heels- which could be a problem for my foot issue! I’ll let you know how it goes!

I’ve said this a million times but a dress is such an easy way to look put together! The best part is, I’ve found lots of cute dresses at Marshalls and TJ Maxx!

I love this blazer with the dress!
If you don’t have a blazer- but need something to keep warm, wear a cardigan, but unbutton it!
If it’s really hot, wear it alone! You may want to add a little necklace or something though!

April 6th, Color Block

Looking back over my past outfits- I realize I have a bit of a color block.

For some reason, I am really drawn to neutrals- and seem a little afraid of color.

But, with spring upon us- and bright colors everywhere- I’ve decided I need to incorporate some color into my everyday look.

Today I’ve chosen this cute grey ruffle dress- and then added a bright yellow blazer over the top. To follow my rule of 3 (I must have 3 items in each outfit) I’ve added this cute colorful necklace.

To finish it off, I’ve chosen snakeskin wedges. I’m not 100% thrilled with this shoe choice, I love these shoes- but not sure it is warm enough  for them.

Truth be told, I’m a little stumped on what shoes to wear with this outfit! Suggestions?

It’s Friday, so be sure to check out Fashion Friday over at Girlymama!

This bright yellow blazer is perfect for spring!

Outfit update- when I went outside and almost froze my toes off, I decided to switch to boots. Not as ‘springy’ but at least my feet are warm!

Boots are a lot warmer!

Feb 24th, Spring Wish List

Now that I”m so into clothes, it’s tempting (but clearly not practical) to buy an entire new spring wardrobe. Being on a limited budget I made a list of my top 10 items for spring and I’ve done a little shopping…

Today I’m showing one of my new purchases, a yellow blazer. I have gotten really into blazers/ jackets this year. They are perfect for layering- and seem to add a little more polish than a simple cardigan.

Similar to yesterday’s blazer, this one is also jersey knit- so it is literally like a sweatshirt. Can’t get more comfy than that!

I’ve paired this with a blue and white striped shirt.  I can’t get enough of stripes! However, alone, they aren’t that exciting.

I’ve paired my blazer with straight leg jeans and wedge heels. This is a bit of a risk for me. I rarely wear heels with jeans like this, but thought it might be fun to try.

What do you think? Should I stick to flats? Or  for running errands my cute new Pumas would be perfect.

And by the way, do you want to see my list?

1. Bright grandpa style cardigan

2. Maxi dress

3. Something green (mint green is the color to have this spring)

4. Colored jeans

5. Skinny cargos

6. Sporty flats/ tennis shoes

7. Colored cropped pants

8. Yellow blazer

9. Colorful mini (either with a pattern or bright color)

10. Cute layering tanks/ shirts to wear under sweaters

What am I missing? What should I skip?

Of course, since it’s Friday I’ve linked up with my friends at Girlymama for Fashion Friday. Check it out!
